Please reach us at restsaunastudio@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
You deserve to have REST built into your week and on your calendar. Schedule your REST by phone or via our online booking system found here.
REST is your come-as-you-are sanctuary, but for your comfort, you’ll want to slide into loose cotton or other billowy sweat-wicking clothing immediately after you REST. Your body will continue sweating until you reach homeostasis - usually 15 to 20 minutes after your session. We encourage you to let your body do its thing - you’ll continue to burn calories and release more toxins the longer you allow your body to benefit from REST.
RESTers who arrive with makeup may want to take advantage of our complimentary non-toxic wipes found in each REST Private Nook - sweat and mascara are rarely good bedfellows.
During your REST, your birthday suit is best! For maximum benefit, allow our premier Tecoloy heaters and exclusive chromotherapy lights as much access to your skin as is comfortable for you. Towels are provided in each Private Nook for your convenience.
The beauty of REST is that all you need to do is show up - your amazing body and our premium saunas will take it from there. For the most enjoyable - and effective - experience, please arrive well hydrated. Some guests like to sip water or an electrolyte beverage like coconut water during their session. As long as your liquid refreshment is in a non-metallic container, drink up!
Every body is different - you’ll find your sweet spot, both in your
calendar and with how your body feels after REST. Like any good
nap, we encourage you to start slow and settle in - there’s no
pressure.
Here’s what we know: Many of the peer-reviewed studies that
have been conducted and published on the benefits of sauna use
have subject participants sweating two or more days a week, on
average.
But here’s what we also know: Some REST is generally better
than no REST at all. Here, we celebrate progress over perfection.
Personally, we schedule REST for ourselves three to four days a
week.
Of course, you should check with your doctor before you change
or implement any new exercise or holistic wellness practice -
including sauna use.
After your REST sauna session, we recommend focusing on hydration - you can lose a pint of fluid during your sweat - and replacing any mineral loss with nourishing, light foods and drinks.
You may notice that after REST, you feel invigorated and ready to take on the day! Others might feel more introspective and crave a hot cup of tea and good book.
Let our REST team know if you’d like to customize your REST sauna experience to assist with nervous tension, insomnia, athletic recovery, lethargy or other discomfort.
Practice makes progress, RESTer. If you find that, even when well hydrated, your body is slow to sweat... you’re not alone! Many folks report that it takes 20, even 30 minutes to start to sweat when they first begin RESTing. As long as you have permission from your doctor, keep at it - our bodies, especially if we live sedentary lifestyles, can take some time to learn how to sweat. After a few sessions, you’ll notice that you’re sweating much earlier during your REST.
In a world of go-go-go, it’s difficult for a lot of us to say, “no, no, no” to that hustle mindset. In fact, one of the most common concerns of new RESTers is how they’ll fill the time.
That’s why REST is revolutionary. Intentionally creating space in your day to do nothing can feel awkward - even stressful - at first.
But here’s the good news. There’s no one right way to REST. Some RESTers fall nearly immediately into a cozy catnap. Others read books, scroll social media, listen to a guided meditation, perform gentle yoga or give themselves a massage.
Listen to your body and find out what kind of REST you need
today.
